Who I am.

Lucas Herskovits

I'm a junior at Penn State's College of Information Sciences and Technology, majoring in Enterprise Technology Integration.

With a focus on enterprise systems and coursework in AI governance, I'm actively exploring how AI can be integrated into business operations to improve efficiency and decision-making.

Outside the classroom I'm involved with Penn State Hillel, Chabad, and THON. I'm planning to study abroad in Barcelona in Spring 2027.

  • Developed and managed software solutions and digital business operations, supporting cross-functional IT and business initiatives.
  • Collaborated with IT team members and business stakeholders to align technology solutions with operational goals.

  • Delivered high-volume table service in a fast-paced environment, managing up to 8 tables simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and guest satisfaction throughout peak shifts.

Enterprise IT Risk Assessment — Nittany Lion National Bank Case Study

  • Led team analysis of core banking systems and third-party vendor integrations, identifying 3 critical single points of failure — a core banking system with no failover redundancy, a single-vendor API dependency with no SLA protection, and unencrypted data transfers between internal systems.
  • Built a Work Breakdown Structure in MS Project and produced a 12-item risk register across 6 risk categories, each scored by likelihood and business impact to prioritize mitigation sequencing.
  • Designed a risk scoring tool and presented a remediation roadmap to simulated bank leadership, recommending failover architecture and vendor diversification as the highest-priority interventions.

AI Governance Analysis — Coventry Mutual Insurance Case Study

  • Evaluated 3 enterprise AI systems across underwriting, claims, and fraud detection for governance maturity, bias exposure, and organizational readiness to scale responsibly.
  • Identified that a declining human override rate on the underwriting model reflected eroding reviewer judgment rather than genuine model improvement — flagged as the highest-risk governance gap in the submission.
  • Produced an AI Readiness Map placing the organization at Stage 2 of a 5-stage AI integration maturity model, with a structured path to Stage 4 supported by policy, retraining, and audit recommendations.

Built a Python scraper that pulls live diamond listing data from major vendor sites using Selenium to launch Chrome and extract pricing. Aggregates results by cut, color, clarity, and carat weight to give the sales team at MJJ Brilliant a real-time market benchmark for pricing conversations.
